Time to Stand Up and Be Counted! - we must all push like crazy against this horrendous situation #SC
Just a few short days ago I started tweeting. I had never done it before and didn't know what to expect. But please bear with me, whilst I explain a situation that I discovered on Twitter and has opened my eyes wide. Every day I have seen more and more tweets begging for help to find stolen dogs, so many in fact that my Twitter feed gets jam-packed around 11pm GMT / 6pm EST. You see it is a fact that incidences of dog theft have been climbing rapidly over the last 5 years to,
Dog Theft Is Still On The Rise
On average 70 percent of stolen pets were stolen from their owner's property and about half of those from inside their own home. and very sadly the situation has failed to improve over the years. This will also be more prevalent immediately after the Christmas period, as family members will have been given or have bought a puppy as a present. There is no greater message of importance, than to educate new and existing owners regarding the security of their pets, gardens and ho

RSS Feed added, so you can be automatically advised of all new blogs that we post
RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is an 'old' technology when it comes to web access, but it is still a very quick and easy way to keep in touch with news, blogs, articles, etc. from all around the web that YOU wish to know about. How do I get it to work? First get yourself a free RSS Reader from the web. There are many, but for PC users and with Android and iOS apps a few of the best are: NewsBlur, Feedly or for pure Mac users try NetNewsWire. Add the RSS feed links of your favo

Canine Nutrition Quiz - The average score is 4/10. Can you do better?
It seems to be fairly common practice to only skim-over ingredients lists on products that we buy for our dogs and potentially missing that the foods are lacking nutrition that our dogs need. So it was refreshing to come across this quick, but not so easy, Canine Nutrition Quiz. It is very quick and a bit of fun, but with a serious side. I managed 7/10 but was racking my brain on some of them, so give it a try and see how you do.

Amazing Original Artworks by Li Tie
Our friend and fellow Daxie lover, Brett Penn, posted in Dachshund Only Group a few days ago about a local artist in Portland, by the name of Li Tie, who produces amazing portraits. Here is Brett's original post: 'Hey guys....... I wanted to share this with you. I got it today. There is an artist here in Portland who is amazing! He does all kinds of portraits and has been an artist 18/20 years. He is very reasonable and this looks JUST LIKE my kids. I actually emailed him sep

The day we fell in love with Dachshunds
15 years ago our son Tom was a 9 year old having his annual summer sports day at school and Nic and myself attended. As we walked on to the games field, Tom ran up to us and said 'Come quick and see this lovely dog!' We approached and saw what we now know was a Standard, Wirehaired male, a mixture of gold and grey and with the most fantastic character-filled face and very friendly. He was called Percy and we were absolutely smitten. But . . . we lived in a 3-storey townhouse

Seasonal Christmas foods that are harmful or dangerous to dogs
In this season of good cheer, we generally have an excess of food and drink in the house and when visitors come by, out comes the plates and trays of human snacks, treats and sweetmeats. But therein lies the problem - little legs attached to speedy bodies and controlled by greedy brains are ALWAYS looking for the chance of a smash-and-grab raid, whilst the humans are busy chatting. Become an expert Risk Assessor and consider where snacks and treats are positioned. Keep eyes i

Beware Rawhide Chews
This is not new information, but when posted on Facebook, etc. quickly moves down the page. So to keep it in the spotlight I am posting it here. To be absolutely fair, it is primarily the rawhide chews that come from China. But please be aware that approx 75% of all rawhide dog chews in the UK, Europe and the US are actually imported from China and many are re-branded - so plaese read the labels very carefully on 'point of origin/manufactured in . . .' information and make up

Huge dose of cuteness to cheer up your day
How can anyone resist this super-cute Daxie? Mind you, I'm not sure they are impressed at being given a bath !
